The agreement of PGA Tour and Networks broadcast

The agreement of PGA Tour and Networks broadcast
The PGA Tour said Thursday that it had reached an agreement with CBS Sports and the NBC Sports Group that secured the tour’s network broadcast rights into the next decade.
With an existing deal that runs through 2012, the new nine-year network agreements will run through the 2021 season. That is almost twice the length of previous network deals, and aligns all involved with Cheap Golf Clubs the 15-year contract the tour signed with the Golf Channel in 2007.
The tour was able to pull off a blockbuster deal despite the on-again-off-again presence of Tiger Woods, the former No. 1-ranked golfer who — despite scandal, injury and a two-year winless streak — remains its No. 1 draw.
But Woods, who was given the credit for being the reason that the tour signed a record TV deal in 2001 and was blamed for network reluctance to measurably improve that agreement in 2007 when the current four-year deal was completed, was not a major factor in these negotiations, McManus said.
The schedules of events for both networks are expected to remain largely the same throughout the agreements. CBS will broadcast an average of 20 events and about 130 hours of live weekend coverage, including a spring schedule that includes the Masters; the end of the FedExCup regular season, including the W.G.C.-Bridgestone Invitational; and the Barclays, which is the first event in the FedEx Cup playoffs.
NBC will continue to show a first quarter that includes two World Golf Championships events: the Accenture Match Play Ping K15 Irons Championship and the Cadillac Championship; the Players at T.P.C. Sawgrass in May; and the final three playoff events: the Deutsche Bank Championship, the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship. NBC also televises the P.G.A. Championship, the season’s final major championship, and the Ryder Cup every two years.

Troy Matteson leads PGA Tour event

Troy Matteson leads PGA Tour event
The Deutsche Bank Championship began Friday with two players on opposite ends of the world ranking — Luke Donald at No. 1, Cheap Golf Clubs For Sale Troy Matteson at No. 207 — having their lowest first rounds of the year on the PGA Tour.
Matteson overcame a bogey on the first hole for Wholesale Golf Equipment a 6-under-par 65 and the outright lead after the first round of the second tournament in the four-event FedEx Cup playoffs. Donald shot a 66 to tie for second with Masters champion Charl Schwartzel, Y.E. Yang and Jerry Kelly.
Ryan Moore of Puyallup, Kyle Stanley of Gig Harbor and PGA Championship with Ping K15 Irons winner Keegan Bradley were among 14 players tied for 13th place at 68.
Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson (70) brought attention to himself for two items that looked out of place.
One day after he took batting practice at Fenway Park and wore a Red Sox jersey while throwing out the first pitch before the New York Yankees’ 4-2 victory, Mickelson wore pinstripes at the TPC Boston.
“Lost a wager with a friend and had to wear these today,” Mickelson said. “What can you say? I’ve got to suck it up and bear it.”
Stranger yet was the sight of Mickelson sticking the grip of Burner 2.0 Irons a long putter into his midsection.
Mickelson became the latest PGA Tour player to try a belly putter. Although he still missed his share of putts, he sounded as if he was willing to stick with it — at least for this tournament.
